for those that dont know the Occasional Orchestra project kick started when Darrell and I had the opportunity to contribute a track to a CD to raise funds for life and living charity and the CD was to be a collection of cover versions of songs by Kevin Coyne.
Typically contrary we chose a song Kevin didnt actually write - a white spiritual that was on his first album for Virgin, Marjory Razorblade ,and also a song he would, later in life, close his gigs with - Lonesome Valley.
Its now on our Japeeza album too.
We later got to know Kevins son Robert who is a hugely talented guitarist and who had played with his Dad in his last years.
Robert is also such a nice guy and to our amazament readily accepted our invitation to come play guitar on Lonesome Valley at Saturdays gig.
The whole experience and Roberts attitiude and performance blew us (and the audience) totally away.
Thank you so much Robert.
A wonderful memory and a treasured moment
