thanks so much to michael and jeremy and rick and the all the rest for the sound and recording whihc i hope is ok regardless of my cold!?

and the bands steph macleod band (what a star), alan and mary ann frew (with liza) (pulling the old heart strings), sons of the soil for doing our special guests slot and acoutic butterfly who were as sweet as honey.

wow.

but we had two of the mc's from the young person's initiative rapping over 'bring down the birds' by herbie hancock that we cover, it was excellent.

Hee hee!! Reading your comment Scottie, I just remembered the girl with the crutches, right up the front of the stage! There's a new thing for the Deviltrain CV.. their music makes even the lame dance!!! Like I said, you had EVERYONE jumpin! A great end to an amazing weekend! : ))

A Reverend Scottie perspective for what its worth!!
All you guys at AFC should really give yourselves an immense slap on the back for what was a memorable weekend.
Djay you are right 'music and friendship' are to festivals as cumin and chilli powder are to curry! I really do think the crowd that came in by really got it and appreciated the intimacy of mixing with the performers, that really struck home. I heard nothing but positive comments all weekend about the Sunsets Stage and the talent strutting their stuff.
I didnt manage to meet as many AfC associates as I would have liked but those I did were pure toffs.
Yes the weather wasnt always kind, the pennies in the electric meter ran out at midnight, the security staff at times were a bit anal (apart from Michael with his wee spanner), did you meet the 'no camp fire police'? but the crowd made up for it and whats more the north east crowd isnt always that easy to please.
Despite being disconnected from the Grid, Deviltrain had a hoot and the response from the ecclectic crowd was brilliant, all in the band were very appreciative. I am happily recovering from gum damage as a result of the dunts to the mouth from the microphone stand being used as a steadying aid as well as the pokes in the eyes from the flailing crutches!
On the dark and soggy way home to the tent I bumped into Roy the organiser who was also delighted with AFC presence. I sincerely hope they will have you guys back next year, and if they dont then its their loss.
Thanks again for the invite and the memories
Rev Scottie x

I'm sure you'll have heard from Daryl and many others, Andy, that the saturday went fantastically well. The weather was a lot better so we opened up the front of the tent so people standing (and dancing) outside could still see and hear fine.
Michael, Rick and Jeremy had become so much more accustomed to the set up (and I'd brought a cable they needed) so the sound was great and changeovers were getting incredibly slick! I don't know how they manage it!!
Lots of people came away from the mainstage headliners, The Buzzcocks and The Charlatans and told us that The Sunset Stage had the best music of the Festival!! Isn't that amazing?
Chris Grant Band started it off and totally rawked!! I had someone ask me if they were American! lol
Cross The Border were a lovely contrast with their usual gentle, folky sound and Stoo's beautiful voice perfectly complimenting Sketchy's acoustic guitar. They had me and Mick up to sing along on the choruses of 'Hallelujah' and I was told that some members of the audience were almost moved to tears. Awwwww, shucks!! We were delighted with the audience crowded in and even singing along with songs in our set, and thanks to Daryl again for his great harmonica (as always) on Hey Joe.
The Lynsey Dolan Band wowed everyone again, with everyone asking her name and shouting for more. There were comparisons to Janis Joplin and Amy Winehouse!!
Deviltrain finished the night with a rowsing set and everyone jumping and screaming for more!
It was a wonderful event and the AFC recieved a lot of interest and attention so great publicity and further affirmation of the strength of a 'Collective Force' and what can be achieved.

Cheers Andy, I hope your cold gets better soon. So far reports of the Sunset stage were more than positive! I'm sure Roy and his gang will not be hearing the last of us!

Speak soon.
