our ep neanderthal blues is out and available for free download here or click the banner link below to take you to our nessmp3 site to download (if you don't have a myspace account). we've hand made a small amount of cdr's (with great art work) which were available at our launch gig; with the rest being sent out as promotional material. We're getting a load printed for upcoming gigs

we did a radio session in Aberdeen for original 106 fm Sunday showcase show, on Sunday 11th January to promote the release of the extended player "neanderthal blues".

Just paste the podcast link below into your explorer to listen (we're on straight away)

our history - the orchestra came together in the winter of 2007/2008, we're all from the beautiful wee village of collieston, which has, we're sure, informed our music and how we play. first local gigs in spring of 2008. it felt so good! - we then went on to play some storming summer festivals and gigs further afield.

our live shows are genre defying and have become good time events, upbeat and attract dancers like fire flies to a flame(??)

we play a lot of (far too many) traditional and acoustic instruments, but don't assume anything from that!

it's a wee cottage industry we have here; all the artwork, recording and production, promotion, selling etc is done by the band members and friends, so a big thanks to them all.

this ep has been self released as a taster before the album "away from the main stream", which we hope will be issued in 09??

video of mc's with us at wizard

thanks to 'shaky hand' perron for the vid. and to the mc's - mc and dt. hope to work with them again soon.

really enjoyed wizard regardless of the flu, weather, stress chaos etc and i'm sure that's me smiling (not me just looking glaikit)

finally figured out how to edit out my dancing!

and yes rapping was the only choice (honest) after i'd fecked me voice with flu.

cheers

Hey, normally Saturday gigs start around 9.30 and end around 12.15 so would be your call how you want to play it !!
Usually bands will do either 2 or 3 sets and we provide beer in the interim !!

See you soon .

Too many gig offers sounds good to me.. and the Oirish song title would surely be 'Oim tick, Oim tick, Oim tick!' .. or maybe that's the sound of the uncertain time bomb? Maybe getting a little too surreal. lol :))

Well, Rob's got hardly any comp Festival tickets this year, so he's trying to keep the amount of artists on the Fringe list to a minimum.
My band'll be happy to play and I think The Linsey Dolan Band may want to make a little tour of the Fringe. She's great and a nice lady too. :)
I'm telling people who are playing at The Highland Gathering to contact yourself, Mick and Rob if they're available for more Fringe events in the run up to the 6th.
What date's the Fringe event at Drummonds? I'll let people know.
Peace,
Maria :)

That's cool if you're able to do the Gathering. Are you running a Festival Fringe event this year as well? If you are, I'm hoping to coordinate as many of the Gathering/Fringe events as possible into a mini tour for AFC/Fringe performers. It'd probably kick off in Paisley a week before as Mick's running a 'Gathering/Fringe' event there and then if you wanted to do the same at Collieston and we got a few more Fringe spots around Inverness and Ross-shire then we finish at my 'Highland Gathering' the day before the Festival starts. That makes it more worthwhile, particularly for the people flying in from abroad.
Well let me know your thoughts on all this and meanwhile I'll stick you on my list of possibles tbc.
Hope to see you soon,
Maria :)
