Before June this year the last song I wrote was about 8 years ago. I wrote It Was Madness in a day and a half for the campaign agaisnt a proposed incinerator for the Highlands to be built in Invergordon (my home town).

I was in a couple of bands locally in the 80's (oo err), released a solo album in 1990 (and did nothing with it - I still have 700 copies) and turned to oil painting in 2001. In 2004 I made filmmaking my career vowing to do nothing else and in May the anti-incinerator campaign totally took over my life and things haven't been the same since.

Who knows what the coming year will bring?

Rant - iTunes and It Was Madness

It Was Madness may be out now but it's been a long time coming. I thought it would be almost instant puting my song on the biggest internet platform for music in the world. In short it took over a month. If you've never uploaded to iTunes let me tell you it really is very straightforward but you need to do it a month in advance of your intended release. Also you don't upload directly to iTunes. I used a company called Tunecore so maybe it's not iTunes that causes the delay maybe it is.

I've already booked all the acts. However, it should be a great weekend and we'll have an informal Open Session in the bar through the day on saturday between the actual performances on the friday and saturday nights, which you'd be welcome to take part in. Also, the Hostel has given a special deal for AFC members of a bed for just £10 per night for the Showcase Weekend so you could make an occasion of it.
I'll keep you in mind for future events.

Do you remember I lived at Kindeace, at the big white house with the tower and saw you often at the Alberts Film Awards?
