for those that dont know the Occasional Orchestra project kick started when Darrell and I had the opportunity to contribute a track to a CD to raise funds for life and living charity and the CD was to be a collection of cover versions of songs by Kevin Coyne.
Typically contrary we chose a song Kevin didnt actually write - a white spiritual that was on his first album for Virgin, Marjory Razorblade ,and also a song he would, later in life, close his gigs with - Lonesome Valley.
Its now on our Jap… Continue

Thanks for all that!
I had a feeling you were 'down South'.
Prob your gig is over time you get this - so I hope it all went well.
I take it Spratton is essentially a summer event then?
I will try to find out more about it -by digging around here.
And I will check out more of your stuff - cheers for just now,
Pete

OK Peter - point 1, Darrell doesnt 'do' websites so you get me; the one that plays the small box on stage / CD.
Point other, we never really know whether we're folk or not and having discussed the topic with friends that can go on and on and on about it to the point where we'd, frankly, rather not know but if a Rickenbacker and a bass player who likes New Order is folk then we're definately folk.
Spratton is near Northampton and is THE place to be whichever weekend it is that year. Heck it poured with rain this "summer" yet still we had a great time, wives, girlfriends, kids the lot. In fact if you can get to Spratton tomorrow we'll be at The Kings Head from 8pm and we've even got a special Xmas song to play PLUS our pal Lucas from Czech Republic will be playing a few songs too.
Now the commercvial bit - you can download both tracks at i-tunes and theres also 2 videos at www.youtube.com/japeeza with 2 more hopefully being posted in a day or two including one with our new brass section (is that folk?) Glad you like what you hear - keep em peeled, we're 3 1/2 tracks into the new album. Thanks for the kind words.

Hi Darrell,
Thanks for your message. I'm listening to Boating Lake and Giants Hands to get a flavour of what's what here! This is definitely my cup of tea - but I'm not really folky!!! So, 2 points: I have no idea where Spratton is! And I'm not quite sure about folk festivals for me. But I do like the idea of meeting music buddies anyway and it's good of you to ask me. Please fill in the gaps for me, ha, ha!
