It's Bringing music back to the grassroots

Ok, this is the first song I've put up for review here (I've not done much reviewing yet coz I dont have the expertise to offer much)

I'm not looking for a review in the normal sense of the recording as I just ran this through one mic and did it live

My main questions are:

Will this go across well live?

Is it too cheesy?

And when I do go about recording this properly in the end, how will it best to go about it as the speeding up is very intentional and will make multitracking hard?

Lyrics are these in various orders

Are you the one
Sitting down
Thats no fun
Get up now
You never know
Until you try
Just have fun
Until you die

Dont be scared
Dont be square
Coz if you can walk
You can dance

Chorus
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Clap your hands
Get off your ass
Take the chance
Do a dance
Am I too fast

Interlude
If you can walk then you can dance
Get off your ass and take a chance
You never know until you try
Just have fun until you die

x2

Stomp your feet and clap your hands x4
Just have fun until you die x4

If i knew the answer to .. will it go over well live .. I'd be rich !
Cheesy .. nah !

When you come to record ( multi track ) the song ..
does the program you use have a facility to adjust the tempo ?
In Logic you can create a tempo curve . So I would record the song
at a constant tempo ... then create the tempo increase you want .

Thanks Tim

No, I dont have any fancy programs that can do that sort of thing - I use audacity, but I'll figure somehting out in the end

Even then I have a problem multitracking. Whenever I've played and whoever with I've been a live musician and although I've been having a go at track by track lately and improving slowly, its not my forte - just going to be a case of as and when I can afford the kit to do multitrack recordings live

Definitely not cheesy mate.

Had me grinning and tapping me tootsies! I never had you down for a gypsy lol

This could be a big crowd pleaser, I can also hear space for other instruments, ie fiddle, 2nd guitar percussion etc.

Will definitely go down well at the campsite for Spratton!!!

Lol, no, I'm no gypsy - they can do what I did in this song, but change chords each time as opposed to sit on one for 30 seconds at a time ;-)

Quite looking forward to giving it a bash this sat at the open mic so I guess I'll find out then if it gets people dancing as intended, but thanks for the input and support

Hey Lew;
Some systems have a metronome mapping setup where you can map out all of your tempo changes not sure if your system does or not. If it does you could set it up and run a ghost track with the acoustic guitar. Then maybe put a vocal track. then you can tweak your tempo changes. then build around that with bass and percussion or what ever you plan to use. then go over the acoustic guitar track and do a proper vocal.

If you don't have a mapping set up you could do it with out but you wouldn't be able to use the loops from you studio. So if you're not planning on using the looping run the best ghost track you can. or maybe pick up a metronome with mapping and use it.

Hope that helps some

Steve
