AFcollective Artist Network

It's Bringing music back to the grassroots

I've had a bit of time to go round and listen to a few of the newcomers in the last few days and there's some incredible talent being added to our collective here

I occasionally do a guest show on AFC radio, and what I'd like is for all those people who've only joined AFC this year to send me a track so I can put together a show of our new talent and showcase it for all and make it easier for everyone to keep up with whats going on on here

You can either attach your tracks to this thread, or send them to toorare2die@hotmail.co.uk and I will do the show as soon as I have enough tracks to make up an hour

Hi Lew....good to see that some of sonic people like Gumbo are jumping in with both feet, the "Radio Song Archive" file on file factory has hundreds of songs from people who've sent mp3's and CD for the radio...don't be afraid to grab some of them too if you like :) :) :)

I know Dol, I could even go and snatch the songs from their sites, but part of the idea behind this is to get people involved as well as on the radio. I want to talk to these people as well as appreciate their music, so its those who respond who get on to this one - and I'll leave it as long as it takes

Ah, you may lose the shy ones with very little self confidence Lew.. and yes there ARE a few very good musicians who are just terrified to push themselves at all.
I always make a point of saying to people that I'd like to play one of their tunes on a show and invite them to tune in and come on the chatroom. The confident musicians will happily self promote (and good on them) but if you hear some great music when you're browsing some sites, you should always let the artist know you love what you're hearing, cos they could be one of the types who'll never have the nerve to come forward without encouragement.

Is there a format/feel that you're looking for?

Not particularly

Most often I do have some kind of overall design to a show - and this one does, but not musically. This one is about our newest friends and members and their songs of whatever style

well, that's something... the song file is playing a different song than the filename. Oh well.

the song you're listening to is called I'm Gonna Do It Again....

.... and I probably will. Misname a file that is.

The song I grabbed at random was Are You Hearin' Me.

I am finding the titles and the mixup to be pretty entertaining and ironic in their own right.

Thank you Johnny

We're now about a quarter of the way there. As I said before I'll wait as long as it takes, but I'd rather not

Get your tracks in you newbies and spread the word!
